Striding out for a good cause

Colleagues at Castle, put their best feet forward, to take part in the South Shields Memory Walk.

The community-based event included a coastline walk with all funds raised helping to support people affected by dementia.

Starting at Bents Park, right by the beach, the 7k walk, saw a Castle team comprised of Naomi Haliburton, Compliance Director, Paul Illston, assistant quantity surveyor, Georgina Archer, HSEQ administrator, Helen Maxwell, finance administrator and Jeanette Barrett, senior administrator, raise over £300 for Alzheimer’s Society.

Chris Meadowcroft, operations director, Castle, said: “As a company based in South Tyneside and with so many of the team living in the borough, where we can, we look to give back to the local community.  This was a fun family event, which members of our team were keen to support and raised money for a very worthy cause.”

Based in Hebburn, Castle is a supporter of the South Tyneside Pledge, an initiative led by South Tyneside council, and based on a commitment by organisations in the borough to boost the area’s economy by working together and providing opportunities for local people.

Castle is currently working on several projects across South Tyneside including the full refurbishment of a 50,000 sq ft industrial unit at Didcot Way, Boldon Business Park.

The company is also principal contractor for the relocation of South Tyneside College from its current site in Westoe Village to South Shields town centre. The £95 million project is a partnership between Tyne Coast College, Castle and South Tyneside Council. It is being funded by Tyne Coast College, South Tyneside Council the North East Combined Authority, the Department for Education (DfE) and UK Government.

The relocation will create a 15,000 sq. metre campus on King Street.
