Passivhaus Project Completed For Grammar School In Scotland
Castle Building Services, has completed the full mechanical, electrical, public health and renewable services for the new Passivhaus-certified, Paisley Grammar School in Renfrewshire.
Appointed by Morrison Construction, it is one of a number of projects the two companies have partnered on for a variety of schools across Scotland.
Boasting a 300-seat theatre, Paisley Grammar School Community Campus has become the first Passivhaus school in the Renfrewshire Council local authority area.
The project is funded by Renfrewshire Council and Scottish Futures Trust and supported by finance from the Scottish Government’s Learning Estate Improvement Programme.
The comprehensive scope of works for Castle Building Services included the design, supply, install and commissioning of mechanical systems consisting of above ground drainage, domestic services, low temperature hot water heating, underfloor heating, ventilation and air conditioning, incoming mains, thermal insulation, commissioning and building management systems to monitor and control energy use and the installation of air source heat pumps.
Electrical works included, LV installations, fire and intruder alarms, security systems, lighting, including controls, earthing and bonding, lightning protection, data, induction loops and EV charging. The services were installed to meet the high standards of Passivhaus.
