Castle Building Services appointed onto multi-million community campus scheme
Appointed by Morgan Sindall Construction onto the scheme, Castle Building Services, is undertaking the full mechanical, electrical, public health and renewable services for the new Ardrossan Community Campus project.
The overall value of the project is £124 million.
The campus forms part of the wider Ardrossan coastal plans, which will see the regeneration of a brownfield site north of the town’s harbour.
It will provide an all-through 2–18-year-old educational and community building to replace the existing Ardrossan Academy and Winton Primary School.
Delivered for North Ayrshire Council in partnership with SCAPE Scotland, the construction of the new campus will provide state-of-the-art educational facilities for over 1400 pupils, as well as community facilities.
Scheduled to be complete by summer 2028, Ardrossan Community Campus will feature shared community facilities – including a library, learning hub and indoor sports facilities featuring a swimming pool, sports hall, gymnasium, dance studio and fitness studio, outdoor sports facilities including two sports pitches and a multi-use games area. There will also be an outdoor learning landscape, recreational and growing spaces, along with associated parking and infrastructure.
The scope of works for Castle Building Services will include the design, supply, install and commissioning of mechanical systems consisting of above ground drainage, domestic services, low temperature hot water heating, underfloor heating, ventilation and air conditioning, incoming mains, thermal insulation, commissioning and building management systems to monitor and control energy use and the installation of air source heat pumps.
Electrical works include LV installations, fire and intruder alarms, security systems, lighting, including controls, earthing and bonding, lightning protection, data, induction loops and EV charging. The services meet the highest standards of Passivhaus.
Richard Farrel, divisional director, MEP at Castle Building Services, said: “We have built a stellar reputation as one of the UK’s leading MEP contractors and our proven track record in delivering school projects is why Morgan Sindall appointed us onto this project.
“We have a strong relationship with the Morgan Sindall team and we are delighted to play our part in delivering a game-changing facility that will contribute to the wider regeneration of the local area.”
Stuart Parker, managing director at Morgan Sindall Construction in Scotland, said "We're looking forward to working with Castle Building Services on this transformational project, building on our existing relationship delivering high-quality facilities across Scotland. Ardrossan Community Campus will provide a fantastic new resource for the local community, and we're excited to see it take shape over the coming months."
